Three Ways to Help Your Teething Baby Get Better Sleep

July 20, 2021

Teething can be extremely challenging for your baby and everybody else in the family who stays up all night to soothe your little darling. Although this difficult time can last between six months to three years, your pediatric dentist in Brickell will give you effective solutions that will help ease your baby’s pain and allow them to get better sleep.

How To Help Your Teething Baby Get Better Sleep

Give Them Cold Teethers

One of the best ways to relieve teething pain is to create a numbing effect on your baby’s gums by applying anything cold to them. You may give your baby a clean, damp, and wet washcloth to chew one. All you have to do is to place the washcloth in the freezer for about 30 minutes or an hour.

You can also give them cold teething rings that don’t contain any liquid in them. If your child is old enough, you can offer sugar-free applesauce or frozen fruit as long as you make sure that their teeth are cleaned before bedtime.

Apply Gentle Pressure To The Gums

Your baby will feel extremely uncomfortable when teeth start to push through their soft oral tissues. One of the most effective ways to give them the relief they need to soothe them to sleep is to gently rub their gums with your finger before bed. Just make sure that your hands are clean and that your nails are cut short.

Use Pain Medication As Needed

When gentle pressure and cold teethers fail to relieve your baby’s discomfort, don’t be afraid to use pain medication. If your child is at least six months old, you may give them ibuprofen or infant Tylenol. Just be sure to steer clear of any medication that contains benzocaine because these can be dangerous for kids below two years old.
